On October 24th, Professor E.W. "Bert" Meijer, an internationally renowned supramolecular chemist, Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Distinguished Professor of Molecular Sciences at Eindhoven University of Technology, was invited to deliver the 267th Master Lecture. He gave an academic report titled From Supramolecular Polymers to Functional Materials and Chiral Systems at the academic lecture hall of the Tsung-Dao Lee Library, attracting over two hundred faculty members and students from various schools within the university.

The host extended a warm welcome to Academician Meijer's visit, highlighting his outstanding achievements in the fields of supramolecular polymers, functional materials, and chiral systems. The host encouraged the attending faculty and students to seize this opportunity to broaden their academic horizons and stimulate innovative thinking.

Academician Meijer delivered his report focusing on the development of supramolecular polymers in the realms of functional materials and chiral systems. He presented key research advancements made by his team in the field of supramolecular polymers, covering aspects such as supramolecular interactions, functional material design, and the construction of chiral systems. This illustrated the innovativeness and broad application prospects of constructing supramolecular materials based on non-covalent interactions. He further emphasized that with the rapid development of AI technology, utilizing AI-assisted design and property prediction for materials is of significant importance and requires continuous exploration by researchers.

During the dialogue session, faculty and students actively interacted with Academician Meijer, engaging in a Q&A session focused on the opportunities and challenges of chiral supramolecular materials.

Finally, Professor Feng Chuanliang presented Academician Meijer with the Master Lecture Forum honorary certificate and a commemorative gift. On behalf of the faculty and students of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, he expressed gratitude to Academician Meijer for delivering a brilliant report that was both profound and forward-looking.
